The sky’s the limit when it comes to creating innovative, proprietary solutions for customers – a tenet the Thompson Industrial sales team recently learned after a visit to HPC’s technology center earlier this month.

On July 11-12, a group of 12 Thompson sales employees traveled to Canal Fulton (northern), Ohio to view the 25,000 square foot facility, where HPC has its equipment on display for customers. The site, which first opened in 1989, also serves as a testing facility, allowing HPC to try out prototypes for the new, custom equipment it creates.

HPC Industrial is proving its safety efforts are the best of the best.

Earlier this month, the company earned the “Best in Class” Safety Excellence Award for its practices throughout the Gulf.

The award is given out by the Houston Business Roundtable and the Houston Area Health and Safety Council, which together, annually recognize companies in the chemical, refining, and energy industries on the Gulf Coast for their efforts to improve on-site safety while reducing accidents and injuries.

Following a deadly tornado that touched down in Illinois and Indiana, HPC employees at the Marathon Refinery assisted in recovery efforts by donating supplies to a local community center.

On the evening of Friday, March 31, a severe storm passed through southern Illinois and Indiana, eventually forming into a tornado that took the lives of six people and caused massive destruction throughout the area.  

Employees in Texas hit the coast to participate in the 28th annual Big Shell Beach Cleanup, where they assisted in removing 40 tons of trash from 32 miles of beach.

In late February, Manta McAllister, LDAR site manager at the Gulf Coast Growth Venture ExxonMobil/ SABIC site – a new chemical and manufacturing plant that opened in 2021 in Corpus Christi (the state’s southern coast) – received word of the cleanup. She immediately recognized it as a great way for HPC Industrial to get involved locally.

HPC employees in Baytown, Texas, recently received the surprise of the year when they were recognized by a client last week.

Covestro – a German company that manufacturers the materials used in bullet-proof glass and Gorilla Glue – awarded the HPC Insite team with its 2022 Contractor of the Year award.

Each year, Covestro evaluates its 30 contractors on site for the award. There is no application, written criteria, or formal review process.

So, when Branch Manager Bobby Simmons was notified that he received a package, he wasn't sure what could be inside.

​The HPC Industrial team at the Catlettsburg, Kentucky, branch is playing the no blame game – and being rewarded for it. They recently received a Behavior Based Safety (BBS) award from Marathon Petroleum.

BBS is designed to prevent accidents and injuries by aligning safety habits all levels through observation-based feedback. Once certified, employees and contractors are encouraged to observe each other to potentially identify at risk actions. The observer records any unsafe acts – and suggests areas for improvement – but does not identify the company or those involved.

March of 2021, HPC launched the “One for One” initiative with One Tree Planted. Their mission is to make it easy for anyone to help the environment by planting trees around the world! For every dollar donated, one tree is planted!
